Is Club Penguin coming back?
From a former Club Penguin illustrator · November 2026
The short answer: not as far as anyone has announced. We could find no plan from Disney to bring Club Penguin back as of November 2026. If what you miss is the island, the minigames and the outfits, there are still ways to get that feeling back.
What happened to Club Penguin
Club Penguin launched in 2005, and Disney bought it in 2007. Disney closed it in March 2017 and moved to a mobile follow-up, Club Penguin Island, which closed in December 2018. A fan-run copy, Club Penguin Rewritten, was shut down at Disney’s request in 2022.
Why people keep asking
In 2026, co-founder Lane Merrifield announced a new job at Walt Disney Imagineering, and fans wondered what it might mean. KTLA reported that Disney had not announced any plans to bring the game back.
If you miss it: Sloth Jam
This is the game we make. Remi Couture drew for Club Penguin from 2006, through Disney’s purchase of the game, and now makes Sloth Jam alone as Strategic Sloth. It is a free cozy island game in the browser with 64 one-minute party games, dress-up, a house to decorate and places to explore. Online play with other families is in early testing and stays off until a grown-up turns it on, so a child plays with kind computer players or with family on the same device. There are no ads and no loot boxes.
Sloth Jam is an independent game. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Disney. Club Penguin is a trademark of Disney.
