Family party games for kids and parents
A game night guide · October 2026
A good family game night needs a game the youngest can play and the oldest still enjoy, rounds short enough that nobody waits long, and losing that doesn’t sting. Sloth Jam is built around all three, on a single phone, tablet or computer.

How a family plays Sloth Jam
- The Family Cup. Pass one device around the sofa. The game shows whose turn it is, and everyone plays for the cup.
- Everyone gets a sloth. Each family member has their own sloth, and the whole family shares one closet of outfits.
- One-minute games. Each of the 64 party games lasts a minute, so the device comes back around fast.
- One stick, one button, no reading. A 6 year old and a grandparent learn each game the same way, by watching.
- A team game. In Lantern Parade nobody loses: everyone lights the lanterns together and shares the stars.
- Ghost runs. Race a recording of the best round played on your device, so a child can chase a parent’s score.
- Table games. Seven table games to play against a relative.
Tips for a good game night
- Let the youngest pick first. In Sloth Jam, last place picks the game for the final round, which keeps everyone in it.
- Keep it short. One match is three rounds. Two or three matches make a full evening for young kids.
- Mix in a team game. Play Lantern Parade between rounds when tempers run high.
- Add a screen-free break. Our free coloring pages of the island animals make a good warm-up or wind-down.
